I can't believe this girl is graduating next week. I remember meeting Emma when I first moved to the Eastern Shore about 5 years ago (wow time flies)! Susan Ponchock, founder of Bosom Buddies photographed with a digital mammography machine and hand-held ultra-sound imaging equipment. Mrs. Ponchock donated the machines to the Anne Arundel Breast Center on Kent Island. A truly beautiful person, inside and out.

The local region is home to a number of culinary entrepreneurs who are putting Baltimore on the map as an exciting foodie hub, but one of the most outstanding leaders on the scene is Michele Tsucalas, the founder and owner of Michele’s Granola. She is a true innovator and leader in the artisanal food movement in our region and beyond.
Michele is a self-taught baker who spent countless hours blending and baking with natural and organic ingredients until she discovered the perfect, crunchy bite, and her business Michele’s Granola was born. She began her operation as a one-woman farmers market show in 2006, doing all of the baking, marketing and selling herself. Her delicious granola is still made by hand with quality ingredients that you might find in your own kitchen, including organic and non-GMO oats, nuts, seeds and spices. She grew her customer base one granola bite at a time, and word-of-mouth helped her business to grow exponentially. She carefully expanded her business in to a thriving bakery based in Timonium where today, a capable crew of 25 team-members assists Michele in baking more than 7,500 pounds of granola weekly.

If you have ever visited downtown Easton, Maryland you have undoubtedly driven past Brasserie Brightwell. Hopefully you have been lucky enough to pop in and chow down on some delicious fare created by Chef Brendan Keegan. Many of the ingredients used in Brendan's dishes grow right in the back yard (Cleo Braver's back yard, actually) at Cottingham Farm where I photographed the Chef amongst organic ingredients.

Meet Jean Wade Mayer & Emily Jean Villarreal, co-owners of Boutique Events. They met while employed at a catering company in Hunt Valley and shortly thereafter decided to start their own business together as event planners and consultants. Jean & Emily are partnered with Gertrude’s, a restaurant at the Baltimore Museum of Art. This partnership allows them to plan and coordinate all special events held within the venue. They also plan events in and around the surrounding area including weddings, mitzvahs, corporate functions, and residential soirees. They are deeply rooted in the Baltimore community and enjoy giving back by serving on committees and also producing many chic fundraising events around town. Boutique Events is a member of the National Association of Catering and Events and have spent a number of years on the board as Co-Director of Fundraising. This year they are co-chairing a committee for NACE National Conference that will be held in their hometown. Emily earned a BS from Virginia Tech graduating cum laude. Jean graduated from The Restaurant School at Walnut Hill College, majoring in Hospitality Management. The combination of their educational and life experiences has without a doubt strengthened their reputation and allowed them to thrive in this industry delivering extraordinary designs and one-of-a-kind experiences. Dr. Scott is the founder and medical director of Chesapeake Eye Care and Laser Center and the medical director of TLC Laser Eye Center Annapolis. One of the nation’s most respected cataract surgeons, she's as talented in the kitchen as she is the operating room!
